Consulate Dental Plans, Dental Dental of California.
Question: I current receive dental benefits though my employer with Delta Dental. For the most part I like the plan and the benefits it offers, also like the fact that I am able to stay with my current dentist. However I will be in need of more dental work where the cost will exceed my yearly maximum limitation of $1500.00. I would prefer not wait two years to get all the needed dental care done. Is there any other plans I could get that will help me with the additional cost not covered?
Answer: One of the first steps to take is to make sure the dentist you are currently seeing is willing to accept two dental insurance plans. Not all dentist will combine coverages with two different companies. If they will accept an additional dental plan find out what plans they are currently a provider of so that you can buy plan that will work with your current dental office. Also make sure your current dental insurance plan does not have any issues with you using a secondary dental insurance plan. Then finally even if all those thing fit into place make sure that buying a second dental insurance plan is truly cost effective. Does the second plan you are getting have any long term waiting periods for the very services you are wanting the additional help on? If so you need to take that into account. Make sure you read carefully. You can normally get two dental plans but you just want to make sure it works out how you want it too.
