Consulate Dental Plans, Broken Tooth
Question: Around two months ago I had a root canal done on one of my back molars. I was supposed to go back in for my permanent crown in two weeks, and a temp crown was put on until then. Do to things keep coming up I could not get back to the dentist right away about three week later the temp crown came off. I was going to make a dental appoint to get my real crown put on so I was not worried about it at the time. However, while I was eating, part of tooth with the root canal broke off. Now I have a hole in my tooth. My appoint is in three more days. The dentist was going to put the new crown on, but now what will happen? Will I still get my crown?
Answer: You should call you dentist up right away and let them know what happen to see if you can be seen sooner then the appointment. As long as there is still enough tooth you should be able to get your crown. It is possible that you only damaged the crown build up they put on and not what is left of the tooth. However only your dental will be able to termine the correct course of treatment.
